Charlie Dearman

Charlie was a two-way guard for the UAM football team in the 1950’s.  He was a two-time All-AIC selection and was the first athlete in any sport in UAM history to be named to a recognized All-America Team – Dearman was named to both the NAIA and the Associated Press Little All-America Teams following his senior season in 1957.  During his four seasons with the Boll Weevils, his team initially posted a record of 4-4, then began a big turn-around, posting seasons of 7-2, 7-1-1, and 9-2.  With Dearman’s help, they also won the first three out of four straight AIC championships from 1955-1958.
