ALPE, DAVID – Football/Coaching

ALPE, DAVID – Football/Coaching – Southern Arkansas University – 1957-1960: Alpe accounted for 39 TDs leading Lake Village to a 9-0 season earning All-State. He was a 4-year starter and 3-time All-Conference RB for Southern Arkansas University. Alpe was the head coach at Malvern for 36 years, compiling a record of 242-139-5. His teams won 16 conference titles and the 1993 state championship. He was District Coach of the Year 8 times, Arkansas’ Athletic Director (AD) of the Year twice; received the Lowell Manning & Curtis King awards. Alpe was an NFL Outstanding High School Coach of the Year finalist (2003, 2005). As AD, Malvern won 7 state championships and received multiple Sportsmanship awards. Alpe was the Hot Spring County and Malvern Citizen of the Year, inducted into the Arkansas Coaches Hall of Fame (2005), Malvern’s Wall of Honor (2010), Southern Arkansas University’s Hall of Fame (2013) and the Arkansas High School Athletic Administrators Hall of Fame (2017).
