BASKETBALL

TATE, JOHN – Basketball – Arkansas State University – 1985-1989: John is 3rd in ASU school history in points scored, with 1,776, is 5th in field goal percentage with .601, 4th in blocked shots with 105, and is 8th in rebounds with 821. He was a two-time, honorable-mention, small college All-American and made three all-conference teams during his basketball career. He averaged 15.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for three straight seasons. He owns the school records for both games played (128) and games started (108). Additionally, Tate was the MVP of the Kentucky Invitational Tournament during his senior year and was an NIT Scholar-Athlete. After he left ASU, he played professionally in Europe, Australia, and Argentina.
